The Tacos Gringos to Kedai Makan Transformation

Followers of Kedai Makan might’ve noticed this week that Tacos Gringos, now the soon-to-be Kedai Makan space, has been christened with the rubber chicken. Does that mean that we’ll be seeing some Hainan chicken rice on the horizon? Perhaps.

But according to Kevin, the chicken, an unnamed mascot that has made appearances at Kedai’s Broadway Farmers Market stand serves as a reminder for the staff to have fun and not take things too seriously.

“It’s one of those things where when we get super stressed out about anything, we can just look at the stupid chicken and remember to relax and have fun,” said Burzell.

Ouch, Kevin. Kind of hurting the BCM feelings here. But regardless, the food is always better when your chefs are having fun. Kevin and Alysson are still on schedule to bringing fun and street food to the Hill in mid-January. They’ll be joined by fellow Malaysian food ally, Kathleen Khoo. You can read the announcement of her Kedai involvement here.

Until then, the trio has spruced up the space with a fresh coat of paint and menu testing will commence very soon. I can taste the sambal already.
